The information in the new booklet documents much of our team’s progress to date. It’s designed to inform our stakeholders, as well as those unfamiliar with the UC Davis GATEways project, about our integrated approach to the campus landscape, and how the project functions to set our university apart from all others!
A dozen student, faculty and staff volunteers from the Earth and Physical Sciences department gathered to complete the landscape surrounding the UC Davis California Rock Garden (a Geology GATEways Project) on the south and east sides of their eponymous building.
The Arboretum has been collaborating with the Department of Animal Science for the past year to create a teaching landscape where the Arboretum’s Southwest U.S./Mexican Collection adjoins the Cole Facility horse barns.
Last week the finishing touches were put on the Oak Circle of Life tile bench, the latest UC Davis Art-Science Fusion project, located at the entrance of the Peter J. Shields Oak Grove just west of the gazebo.
We are very excited to announce a generous endowment of $25,000 (built through a pledge of $5,000/year over five years) from our long-time friends and supporters, Bret Hewitt and Deb Pinkerton. In addition, they have pledged $10,000 in current use gifts over the next five years.
On July 22nd 2011, the final stone was set in place to cap completion of the campus’s Geology GATEway Garden located on the south and east side of the Earth & Physical Sciences Building.
